Kiki Bob

He had too much time on his hands.
He can’t forget the past or make it go away.
So, his thoughts fall back to his little girl,
Kiki Bob, her life that the world needs to survey.

Her life is now only snapshots of events,
None of extreme note to the outside, insular world,
But everything to a proud dad.
His memories of a life unfurled.

He remembers the time she stole the show
When she scored a ten on the gymnastics routine.
She seemed nonchalant and cavalier before the event,
But when the lights came on, she was the queen.

And the time she stopped the kick late in the game,
Saving the season for her youth soccer team.
The other players’ faces are a distant aberration,
But the joy he saw in her face will never fade from the scene.

She could have been a scholar of note,
But she was too cool to make straight A’s.
She succumbed to peer pressure
And let her intellect fall into a haze.

But, let’s tell the world,
The girl is as sharp as any Rhodes scholar.
As quick as a whip,
And quicker with a quip.

So, what’s in her future?
He hopes that the sun will shine on her
As long as the light of the summer Polar night.

When she lays her head down at night,
She should feel the joy of success from
Making the hard fight.
