WMD's.
Where are they?
Are we going to find any?
Really, it's a moot question. Americans aren't as naive as some suspect. Most Americans know why we deposed of Saddam. He was a threat to our security. As far as I know, he sent ten thousand bucks to the families of the suicide bombers who killed innocent Israel citizens. The worst part of that action is that he publicized the fact that he was doing it. As he tried more and more activities and didn't get slapped for it, he became more and more emboldened. As did other countries, such as Iran, Syria and North Korea.
All I remember is that after we bombed that Libyan palace during the Reagan administration, we haven't heard much from the dictator of that country.
However, I still cringe when I think about that dead soldier being dragged through the streets in Somalia and then we pulled out of there without delivering any retribution. Talk about emboldening. UBL was strengthened by that action, as were many others.
Most despots respect only strength.
Terrorists were encamped in northern Iraq before we wiped them out during the war.
We had to emphasize WMD's to try to convince the UN that Saddam needed to be removed.
That didn't work, so we had to go in with the coalition of the willing and take him out.
Americans know about diplomacy and politics. Sometimes you need to say one thing while you do another.
The world is a better place now with Saddam out of power. Who cares if WMD's are not found.
